Welcome to Dickson Medical Associates, the #1 choice in the Middle Tennessee Region. As a new patient, please review this information to prepare for your vist.
Your primary care physician oversees all aspects of your health care including physical exams, preventive care and referrals to specialists.
If you have an HMO plan, you must call your health plan to select a DMA primary care physician. You will then be able to utilize all of the services available at DMA. Please allow ample time for your insurance company to update your records to reflect a DMA provider.
Family Practice, Internal Medicine and Pediatric physicians are available as primary care physicians.
You may contact the Patient Advocate at (615) 441-4477 for information about our providers.
You are encouraged to schedule an establishing appointment with your new primary care provider. Click here for appointment phone numbers.
You may also request, cancel or confirm an appointment online at least 24 hours in advance here.
If you are a new patient, you will need to complete a medical records release form to have your chart transferred from your previous doctor to DMA. Please complete the form soon after you join DMA so your provider has your complete medical history. You may download our Medical Records Release form, fill it out and fax it to your previous doctor.
DMA Express Care provides convenient medical care for illnesses requiring immediate attention. We are available to care for you and your family on a walk-in basis.
Our Express Care providers treat patients of all ages and do not require an appointment. These centers are available to everyone, even if you are not currently a DMA patient.
If you have a medical concern any time of the day, simply call your local DMA office. You will speak to a representative of your provider’s office during regular business hours.
DMA offers periodic health classes and programs to DMA patients. The mission of the providers of DMA is to educate, motivate, and empower patients and their support network, to take a proactive role in their own health care by making and maintaining healthy lifestyle changes.
Allow 24-48 hours for prescription refills. Call the pharmacy where you filled the prescription; the pharmacy will send a request to your doctor for a new authorization if you do not have any remaining refills. If you have not seen a DMA provider yet and need a refill, call to make an appointment and bring all of your medications with you.
Dickson Medical Associates (DMA) accepts most major ‘managed care’ insurance plans (HMOs, PPOs & Medicare). If DMA is contracted with your current health plan, we will bill your insurance on your behalf. Your plan may require copayments and deductibles that are required by your health plan and are to be paid when you check in for service. We must have your current and accurate information in order to submit claims to your insurance company. Please remember to always bring your insurance card so that we may verify your insurance at check-in prior to each visit.Benefits vary from plan to plan. Some visits, procedures or tests, may not be covered by your insurance. Balances not paid by your insurance are your responsibility and will be billed to you on a monthly statement. Please contact your insurance company for benefit specific questions including coverage, participation, referral information, restrictions, deductible status and co-pay requirements.
An HMO is a Health Maintenance Organization. When you join an HMO, you will be asked to choose a primary care physician (PCP). Your PCP will take care of your routine healthcare needs and coordinate any necessary specialty care. Before you can see a specialist, your PCP will request an authorization for a specialty referral based on your health plan’s guidelines.
A PPO is a Preferred Provider Organization. When you join a PPO, you will have a choice of providers to seek care from within the PPO network. You will typically have a deductible and/or copay if you go to a provider within the network.A PPO negotiates arrangements with a network of doctors, hospitals and other providers who accept lower fees from the insurer for their services. If you choose to go to a physician or hospital outside your PPO network you will have much higher out-of-pocket expenses. If you are covered by one of our contracted PPOs, DMA will bill your carrier for services rendered, so you do not have to complete claim forms.
Medicare Part B is the medical insurance portion of Medicare, which covers physician services, outpatient hospital care, and many other services typically covered under health insurance plans. Part B is financed through monthly premiums paid by enrollees and by contributions from the federal government. If you are covered by Medicare Part B, DMA will bill Medicare for services rendered, so you do not have to complete claim forms.DMA also accepts many Medicare plans including Medicare Advantage plans that cover the costs of many services not covered by straight Medicare.lso, be sure to showcase a premium service.
