Summary


The coding specialist performs highly technical and specialized functions at Dickson Medical Associates. The employee reviews analyzes, and codes diagnostic and procedural information that supports Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance reimbursement. The primary function of this position is to perform ICD 10 CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding for reimbursement for various medical specialties within the organization. The coding function also ensures compliance with established coding guidelines, third-party reimbursement policies, and regulations. Communicates with Providers and staff. Participates in a team environment with open communication, trust, accountability, and mutual respect.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Abstracts all necessary information and assigns proper billing codes (ICD-10, CPT, & HCPCS), which most accurately describe each documented diagnosis, surgical procedure, and particular therapy or procedure according to established guidelines.
  • Analyze provider documentation to ensure the appropriate Evaluation and management (E & M) levels are assigned using the correct CPT code.
  • Communication with providers and staff to encourage appropriate coding and documentation practices
  • Serves as a resource and works with other business and clinical employees to resolve coding issues and questions.
  • Consistently stays current with coding changes and mandates, communicating appropriately with other staff members, including providers.
  • Performs any necessary coding-related training for staff and providers
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Knowledge:


  • CPC or related certification is required. Expectation of continuing education to maintain certification is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred (or applicable work experience).
  • Experience with multi-specialty coding is a plus.
  • Experience with NextGen is a plus.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Customer-focused attitude with a high level of professionalism and discretion
  • Familiarity with MS Office suite
  • Excellent communication skills

Summary

Pay: $16 - $25 per hour

Expected Hours: 30 - 38 per week


Education and/or Experience

Minimum requirements include:

  • High School diploma
  • Graduation from an approves practical nursing program
  • Minimum one year of LPN experience;
  • Pediatric clinic experience preferred.
  • State-licensed practical nurse.
  • ACLS trained.
  • EHR required - NextGen preferred.
  • Or Minimum one-year experience as a Registered MA - High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED),
  • Medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting.
  • Appropriate certificate indicating passing grade for specific specialty if working in specialty department.MS Office preferably in Excel and Word;
  • Ability to work with limited supervision; possess strong verbal communication skills, good organization skills and attention to detail.

Essemtial Duties and Responsibilites

(Duties include the following, but are not limited to)

  • Rooming in patients, taking and recording vital signs, obtain medical history and any other pertinent information to assist provider as directed and record in the electronic medical record.
  • List all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician.
  • Responsible for accurately documenting in patient’s electronic health record.
  • Maintains timely flow of patients.
  • Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls.
  • Instructs patient and family regarding treatment instruction; performs patient education when appropriate.
  • Disposes of contaminated items according to OSHA guidelines.
  • Front office responsibilities to include but not limited to checking in, insurance verification, and payment collection.
  • Ensure clinic is neat and clean, and equipment is in good order at all times; including any safety and maintenance checks.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • May assist with clerical duties
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned


Summary

Monday through Friday hours to be determined


Under the direction of the Director of the Business Office, the Collections Clerk is responsible for handling the billing and collections for various provider and services. Collections clerk ensures that payments are received in a timely fashion and accurate manner. Participate in a team environment to include open communication, trust, accountability and mutual respect.  


Education and/or Experience

 Minimum requirements include: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Associate’s degree preferred 
  • Two years prior of medical collections experience with a medical group 
  • Two years of medical reception experience preferred. 
  • Knowledge of medical practice billing/collection functions 
  • Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices 
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory government provisions 
  • Must be proficient in computer related skills, MS Office preferably in Excel and Word 
  • Ability to work with limited supervision 
  • Possess strong verbal communication skills, good organization skills and attention to detail. 
  • Experience with Nextgen practice management a plus 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

(Duties include the following, but are not limited to)

  • Perform department duties in a timely and efficient manner. 
  • Submission of accurate, clean claims to payers. 
  • Verification of accuracy of coding and billing information for claims submitted. 
  • Identification of delinquent claims via various system tools and specified process for claims follow-up for multiple providers assigned. 
  • On-going research of payer policy and submission guidelines. 
  • Resubmission and appeal of claims as required. 
  • Adherence to DMA Compliance Policy as it relates to all matters of billing and collection

Patient Account Representative – Full Time - responsibilities include a variety of office/clerical tasks relating to claims processing; contacts patients and responsible parties to resolve past-due accounts; investigates account status and initiates collection.. Works with physicians, staff and other facility departments to develop and implement policies and procedures. Participates in a team environment to include open communication, trust, accountability and mutual respect.

 

Education and/or Experience:

Minimum requirements include: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent, Associate’s degree preferred, two years prior of customer service experience with a medical group.
  • Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices. 
  • Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices. 
  • Must be proficient in computer related skills, MS Office preferably in Excel and Word; ability to work with limited supervision; possess strong verbal communication skills, good organization skills and attention to detail.


Essential Duties and Responsibilies

(Duties include the following, but are not limited to)

  • Identifies problem accounts with payors; investigates and corrects errors, follows-up on missing account information, and resolves past-due accounts.
  • Answers inquiries by phone regarding past-due accounts and insurance guidelines; researches incorrect addresses for past-due accounts.
  • Contacts responsible party to resolve delinquent accounts; prepares payment plans and monitors adherence to plans by responsible party; directs accounts to outside collection agencies when necessary.
  • May contact attorneys, employers, physicians, and others necessary to obtain information for resolution of credit and collection matters.
  • Prepares reports to identify and resolve accounts receivable and referral problems.
  • Posts data; verifies and performs mathematical computations; maintains files.
  • Composes and types routine correspondence, memos, letters, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Summary


Under the direction of the Business Office Manager, the Receipt Entry Clerk is responsible for securing revenue by verifying and posting receipts and resolving discrepancies. Participates in a team environment that includes open communication, trust, accountability, and mutual respect.


Education and Experience

Minimum requirements include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One plus years of experience in medical receipt entry
  • Experience in medical billing or medical accounts receivables
  • Experience in Automates Medical BIlling Systems and Practice Management Software, highly desired
  • MS Office, preferably in Excel and Word
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Possess strong verbal communication skills, good organization skills, and attention to detail


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include the following but are not limited to

  • Posts customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions
  • Posts revenue by verifying and entering transactions from lock box and other deposit sources
  • Post contractual adjustments per source documents
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
  • Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing results as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

 Polysomnographic Technologists are responsible for performing sleep studies to help patients of all ages who suffer from sleep disorders. They participate in a team environment that includes open communication, trust, accountability, and mutual respect. 


Education and Experience

Minimum Requirement include:

  • Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with an emphasis in polysomnography ,OR
  • Successful completion of a polysomnography program of no less than one than one year duration associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies required of a Polysomnographic Technologist.
  • Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or equivalent.
  • Maintain current CPR or BCLS certification. Proficient in MS Office preferably in Excel and Word;
  • Ability to work with limited supervision; possess strong verbal communication skills, good organization skills and attention to detail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing patients for sleep studies
  • Monitoring patients during studies and recording results
  • Perform routine and complex equipment care and maintenance.
  • Evaluate sleep study related equipment and inventory.
  • Demonstrate effective written and spoken communication skills.
  • Demonstrate appropriate social skills.
  • Respond to study participant’s procedural-related inquiries by providing appropriate information.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze complex situations and apply policy.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues
  • Comply with the BRPT Standards of Conduct Education.
