John Tullos, M.D., is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, specializing in sports-related injuries. Dr. Tullos came to DMA from Tennessee Orthopedics in Lebanon, TN.

He graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 2010 and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of South Alabama Medical Center in 2015. In 2016, he completed a sports medicine fellowship with Mississippi Sports Medicine, which includes participation in over 1,000 surgical cases for shoulder, elbow, knee, hip and ankle arthroscopic procedures. During his time in Lebanon, Tullos also served as the team physician for Lebanon High School’s sports program.

Tullos chose to pursue orthopedic surgery because he enjoys the hands-on experience and immediate results the specialty provided.

“In orthopedics, we can take a problem, fix it and it is immediately better,” said Tullos. “You can take somebody who can’t walk and the day following surgery they are up and walking. That’s a big deal to those patients, and I find it very fulfilling.”

His goal for his Dickson-area patients is to provide excellent, comprehensive and highly specialized orthopedic care for all ages, from arthritic care for seniors to sports medicine for athletes. Tullos keeps his patients at the center of the decision-making process. He makes sure all aspects of their situation are heard.

“I want my patients to tell me what their pain is like and how it affects their life, so we can come up with a treatment plan together,” said Tullos. “From there, I like to give people all possible options: maybe nothing, maybe a once a day medication, maybe an injection, maybe all of the above, including surgery. We work together to find what fits best for their problem and lifestyle.”

Outside of clinic, Tullos spends his free time with his wife and two kids. From his kids’ sports teams to cooking classes with his wife to guitar lessons and practicing together as a family, Tullos likes to keep active. He is also an avid ping-pong player and routinely plays with his wife at their home in Brentwood, TN.

Dr. John Tullos is available to see patients Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. His office is located at 127 Crestview Park Drive, suite 204, in Dickson. Appointments can be made by phone at 615-441-4545.
