Originally from Macon, Georgia, Dr. Dinkins completed his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University before entering the United States Air Force in 1984 where he served active duty for 10 years, rising to the rank of Lt. Colonel. During his Air Force career, he earned a master’s degree in Systems Management from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. He received his doctorate degree and completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine while serving 9 years in the Michigan Air National Guard.Following his military career, Dr. Dinkins successfully completed his fellowship with the Maryland Spinal Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship program at the St. Joseph Medical Center, following the tradition of distinguished spine surgeons of The John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Dinkins is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Dinkins’ practice focus is in the treatment of orthopaedic trauma, scoliosis care, spinal reconstructive surgery, orthopaedic surgery, joint replacement, anterior and posterior spinal procedures, kyphoplasty, and pain management with epidural steroid injections and facet shots. He has helped to pioneer the use of a new less invasive lumbar fusion procedure known as AxiaLIF to relieve chronic low back and leg pain suffering without damaging healthy tissue, ligaments, muscles and other spinal support structures.
Professional memberships for Dr. Dinkins include American Osteopathic Association, Arthroscopy Medical Association, North American Spine Society and Tennessee Medical Association. He is a Fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.Dr. Dinkins began his career with DMA in December 2004. He has served as a shareholder and member of the DMA Board of Directors since 2008.
