Dickson Medical Associates is proud to welcome Dr. Frank Lohrasbi as its new urology specialist. Lohrasbi comes to DMA from Urology Associates based in Nashville.
Located at 127 Crestview Park Drive in Suite 207, Lohrasbi is providing urological care for men and women with both cancerous and benign conditions. He has been seeing patients in the Dickson-area since the first of November.
“Dickson is a very rapidly growing community and I think it’s about time to establish a urological center of excellence here,” said Lohrasbi. “At DMA Urology, we can provide urological cancer surgery and reconstructive surgery right here in Dickson. It is my hope patients will have the assurance knowing they don’t have to travel as far as Nashville to have their needs met. I am very excited to bring this specialized care locally.”
Lohrasbi has over 20 years of professional experience in the field of urology. He holds degrees from Vanderbilt and the University of Tennessee. He has been a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons since 2002. Lohrasbi chose urology as his specialty due to the combination of patient interaction in clinic as well as surgery performed in the operating room that the field provides.
“The approach to my practice is and has always been to consider the complete patient,” said Lohrasbi. “When a patient comes to see me, not only are they having some physical aliment that needs to be treated, but they also come with fears and concerns. I try to not only treat my patients physically, but also emotionally, with reassurance, in order provide them confidence. It is my goal to establish a good relationship between myself, the patient and their family members.”
Lohrasbi believes the best way to successfully engage with new patients starts with listening and trying to understand every aspect of a patient’s condition.
“I think when a patient tells their whole story and realizes a practitioner truly wants to find out everything about them, they realize that physician genuinely cares and wants to help them out,” Lohrasbi said.
In addition to providing minimally invasive surgical procedures for his patients, Lohrasbi is a pioneer in utilizing robotic technology in surgery. He was the first surgeon to perform a procedure with robotics in the state of Tennessee. He has been a nationally-recognized instructor of robotic surgery since 2004 teaching hundreds of surgeons from across the country in robotic surgery techniques.
Outside of medicine, Lohrasbi enjoys quality time with his family. He is also an avid reader and likes to read about a variety of subjects.
Dr. Frank Lohrasbi is available to see patients Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. Appointments can be made by phone at 615-441-4548.

Dickson Medical Associates is pleased to welcome Dr. Daniel Sherwood as their newest family physician. Beginning on November 5th, he will be serving at DMA’s new clinic in Fairview, TN as the town’s only full-time primary care physician.
Located at 2340 Fairview Blvd in suite 100 at the new Tri-Star Medical Plaza, DMA Fairview will feature six exam rooms and a procedure room for patients with room to add additional services. Extended hours will be offered throughout the week to accommodate Fairview’s growing demand for flexible and convenient healthcare.
DMA Fairview will be open Monday to Friday from 7 am to 7 pm. Appointments can be made by phone at 629-205-3018. Walk-ins will also be welcome.
“Every day, for over 75 years, DMA strives to be Dickson’s preferred medical provider through the delivery of compassionate, quality healthcare services with the highest standards of technological innovation and excellence,” said Christie Strong, Executive Director of DMA. “We are excited to offer this same extraordinary level of service to the residents of Fairview with a dynamic medical clinic staffed with full-time, physician-level care.”
After making the decision to join DMA, Sherwood and his wife considered several towns and schools around Nashville. They ultimately settled on Fairview because they were very impressed by the people they met at the high school, the rec center, stores and restaurants.
“I’m very invested in Fairview and its continued success,” said Sherwood. “As a family physician, I look forward to serving all ages in my new home community at DMA Fairview by offering convenient access to care.”
Sherwood comes to DMA from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Northwest (UAMS-NW) Family Medicine Residency Program in Fayetteville, Arkansas where he served as an attending physician as well as an Assistant Professor for students and residents. He also served part-time with Mercy, one of the nation’s top integrated health care systems. In 2018, Mercy’s independent third-party rater awarded him as the only Mercy primary care physician in Carroll County, Arkansas with the highest possible rating for patient satisfaction.
Sherwood is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He graduated from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C. in 2000. In 2003, he completed his residency at Georgetown University/Providence Hospital Family Practice Residency Program in Washington, D.C., where he served as Chief Resident. Sherwood was also the recipient of the program’s highest honor, the Fort Lincoln Family Medical Center’s Award “as best resident clinician exemplifying the qualities and traits of a family physician.”
After graduation from residency, Sherwood proudly served in the National Health Services Corps, providing healthcare to underserved and vulnerable populations in federally-designated health professional shortage areas. Living first in Appalachia and then the Ozarks, he practiced many aspects of rural family medicine, including outpatient, hospital, nursing home, emergency room, and volunteer care through Eureka Christian Health Outreach.
“I think one of the most interesting parts of family medicine is the breadth and complexity of the conditions a family physician treats,” said Sherwood. “For example, I can see someone with a broken hand, then someone else who’s just suffered a stroke, and the third might be someone dealing with grief from a loss. But I do not view my practice as simply treating individual conditions or diseases. I’m here to care for the individual as a whole patient.”
One of Sherwood’s main goals with his practice is to provide the best scientifically-based treatment and advice possible. When it comes to nutrition and lifestyle improvements, physicians are recognizing more and more the benefits these changes can provide. Lifestyle health can prevent and in some cases reverse some of the most complex diseases people deal with like diabetes and the hardening of the arteries.
Sherwood is a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. During his tenure as an assistant professor in Arkansas, he presented to residents, students and faculty about evidence-based, lifestyle medicine approaches to prevent, reverse and manage disease. Sherwood had to no further than himself for tangible proof that nutrition and lifestyle improvements work.
Several years ago, he discovered his cholesterol was over 250 and his triglycerides were at 350. As a patient, Sherwood knew he needed to make some changes, but wasn’t keen on the idea. As a physician, Sherwood recognized he needed to practice what he preached.
“I realized simple habits like exercising 30 minutes a day five days a week can help, but the most important thing I needed to do was change the way I was eating,” Sherwood said. “By eating lots more nutritious, high fiber foods like fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts and whole grains, I was able to drop my cholesterol over 100 points and triglycerides over 200 points without taking any medication.”
By going through his own lifestyle change, Sherwood discovered a new sympathy for his patients’ lifestyle challenges that he would not be able to share had he always been in good health himself.
“Ultimately my desire is to have a partnership with my patients,” said Sherwood. “I want to be someone they can trust with all of their questions or concerns so they are fully engaged in their care.”
Dr. Daniel Sherwood is available to see patients Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at DMA Fairview from 7 am to 7 pm. Appointments can be made by phone at 629-205-3018.

Dickson Medical Associates is pleased to welcome Dr. Giacomo Meeker as its new General Surgeon. Meeker comes to DMA from The Surgical Clinic based in Nashville, serving as their Dickson-based surgeon for the past three years.
Medicine has played a role in Meeker’s life from a young age. Growing up, his father served as a doctor in Dickson for over 15 years. With a fondness for mechanics, Meeker spent his childhood days taking things apart, putting them back together, building houses for various pets and performing scientific experiments. These passions for mechanics and science in a medicine-focused household left little doubt that Meeker would pursue his family trade.
“As a man of faith, I grew up in a family that emphasized service to one’s community as part of your career choice,” said Meeker. “Watching my father care for patients and my mother become a school teacher compelled me to consider medicine and surgery in particular. Surgery is the only job where I am never bored. I’m able to blend my hobby of science with a desire to care for others in a way that is rewarding for myself and my community.”
As part of his surgical practice at DMA’s Crestview office, Meeker will also be overseeing the DMA Endoscopy Center. This center provides patients with on-site screenings for GI-based diseases including colon cancer.
“It’s no secret that screening colonoscopies save lives,” said Meeker. “We can detect early stage cancers and sometimes we are able to cure it during the colonoscopy or with follow up surgery. Anytime people meet the requirements for a screening endoscopy, I think they should get it.”
As a Board Certified General Surgeon, Meeker provides laparoscopic surgical repair for various surgeries. He specializes in breast, hernia, colon, gallbladder, skin cancer removal as well as thyroid repair.
“Cancer surgery is one of the most gratifying aspects of my profession,” said Meeker. “I have patients who come to my office after being diagnosed and a lot times we can cure the cancer with surgery alone. When those patients come back post-surgery with the cancer removed and I see the weight lifted off of them; it really is the most enjoyable aspect of my career.”
Whether engaging patients who are facing the challenges of cancer or helping someone with a routine, in-office procedure, Meeker wants people to leave his practice with more answers than questions.
“I want my patients to receive the type of care from me that I would want my own family to get,” said Meeker. “At the end of the day, I want to have their concerns addressed and feeling confident about the plan we have moving forward.”
Outside of his practice, Meeker enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife Monica. They are now passing down their passions for hiking, kayaking and traveling to their three children. During the school year, Meeker enjoys helping his kids with their homework and coaching his daughter’s basketball team.
Dr. Giacomo Meeker is currently available to see patients Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. Appointments can be made by phone at 615-441-4504. His office is located at 127 Crestview Park Drive in Suite 201.
DMA’s Endoscopy Center is located in Suite 110 at the Crestview office.
